Adriano’s Chair

The Adriano’s chair was a design derived from the diagonal forms of early architectural models. The diagonal nature of the chairs members give it an edge that is sharp and dominant in form, but elegant in finish and detail.

Most difficult was pushing the proportions and angles of the chair form. As the design was intended to be a lounge chair, a rectangular form was considered to emphasis the “laid back” look of the chair. However, a square form was adopted as it accommodated for human proportions and geometric finishes more appropriately.

As the design has yet to be constructed, many elements are still subject to change. Material of the wood as well as method of joinery have been loosely determined and examined. Method of upholstery shares this ambiguity, but leans in the direction of leather or wool.
